FINNISH CANADIAN FISH & GAME CLUB

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

CANADA

mission statement:

When we leave the beaten path our own
survival and the survival of the wilderness
is at stake. The results are up to us, and we
must accept the challenge.

In 1964 a number of like-minded Finnish Canadians decided to band together and form
a club, Finnish Canadian fish and game club was born.

The purpose of the club was and still is to promote and participate in all sorts of outdoor
activities, such as, hunting, fishing, fish and wildlife conservation, as well as practicing
and teaching good sportsmanship, outdoor safety and ethics.

Today the club has over 250 members. General meetings are held the last Tuesday of
every second month [excluding June, July, and December] 7:30pm at the
Scandinavian Commuinty Center .

Membership in the Finnish Canadian fish & game club also automatically qualifies you
for membership in the B.C. Wildlife Federation, a free subscription to the Outdoor
Edge magazine, and $2,000,000 third party liability insurance while you are involved in
club related activities.

Our bi-monthly newsletter the "Paukku & Koukku" keeps our members up to date on
upcoming club activities and news.

Each year we hold numerous events/functions, such as hunting trips, fishing derbies,
exciting fun filled dances, an annual Christmas party and bake sale, and family camping
trips with a children's summer camp held each year at our Paska lake cabin located in the
beautiful Mile High region near Kamloops.

To aid in the conservation of wildlife and their habitat we have been actively involved
with a Woodduck and Goldeneye nesting box program since 1972 also, since 1995 we have
eagerly participated in a Moose habitat enhancement program in the Greestone mountain/
Paska lake area. We also keep a watchful eye on things through our involvement in the
Wilderness Watch program.

Through out the year as the need arises we put on courses covering a wide variety of
topics such as, C.O.R.E., F.A.C., first aid/C.P.R. etc.
